It’s a Diablo-like showdown! Two isometric hack and slash games from Korea that are coming to North America in 2015 nearly at the same time. One of them is anime-styled while the other has a more unusual horror theme, but they even share a transformation system where your character becomes totally badass! Which one would you choose: ELOA: Elite Lord of Alliance or Devilian?
ELOA: Elite Lord of Alliance goes down the traditional anime-styled fantasy theme and while you can zoom in on your character and move around in third-person, it’s as much a Diablo-like game as they get. It’s easy on the eyes, sometimes stunning actually, and the transformation feature makes your character go berserk for a short period of time. Changing on the fly between the three different combat stances is a much appreciated touch, giving combat a more tactical approach than most MMO games do.
Devilian is a game with four classes at launch, each one having a devil form which you can unleash on your enemies. It’s clearly inspired by Diablo and even the look of it will draw comparison’s to Blizzard’s masterpiece, but it’s not often that you see a horror-themed MMO, let alone one that escapes from the traditional third-person perspective. The acclaimed free-to-play action RPG Path of Exile also springs to mind and if Devilian is nearly as good as that game, then it’s a good sign indeed.
