LINEAGE ETERNAL: TWILIGHT RESISTANCE vs. LOST ARK
There’s been a lot of talk about a true Diablo MMO, also known as a Diablo-killer. While we have a few quality free-to-play examples of this genre, such as the impressive Path of Exile, the truth is that the rest of the pack isn’t even close enough to what makes Diablo so addictive. But this is about to change with two upcoming MMORPGs: Lost Ark and Lineage Eternal: Twilight Resistance.
Lost Ark was a surprising announcement and a case of jaws dropping all over the world. Smilegate and Tripod Studio are working on something that could be truly special, with plenty to keep us excited. The amazing visuals are the first thing that will hit you, but later you’ll be impressed by the varied and fast-paced combat system, with each one of the different 18 classes having a very unique feel to them, and the tripod system adding another layer of depth to the battles. There’s so much to do in this game, even some quests where you’ll get to choose the outcome, and the cinematic dungeons will get you right in the middle of the action.
A global release is in the plans for Lost Ark.
Lineage Eternal: Twilight Resistance is the long awaited new game in the popular NCsoft franchise, which is still one of the most profitable for the South Korean studio. First revealed during South Korea’s G-Star 2011, this MMORPG went under complete secrecy until 2014, when talks of a first beta were heard. However, it wasn’t until G-Star 2014 that we finally got to learn more about this game. We learned that this is an open world MMORPG with hack and slash gameplay and it supports a few hundred players simultaneously in some areas. You can activate skills using mouse gestures, there are dynamic event quests similar to Guild Wars 2 and a randomized dungeon system (Diablo says hi) to keep things fresh and exciting. And Lineage Eternal also looks great, with a more zoomed in perspective than Lost Ark.
NCsoft is planning a simultaneous global release for Lineage Eternal.
