Fallen Earth is the closest that one may get to a free-to-play online game with a similar setting to Fallout. The post-apocalyptic Grand Canyon environment in 2156 and the rival factions dominate a ruthless and large world, one with a freedom of choice that other games should take notice of.
To explore the inhospitable land the player is free to use different means of transport, from the trusty horse to powerful buggies. A competent mix of MMORPG and shooter (first-person and third-person), Fallen Earth is a game that escapes the clichéd fantasy setting in favor of a more original and mostly bleak background.
