Elder Scrolls Online removes 6-month subscription, what could this mean?

the elder scrolls online

You can start speculating now; ZeniMax quietly removed the six-month subscription option from The Elder Scrolls Online. With all the talk that this is one strong candidate to going free-to-play during 2015, many players are already wondering if this is the first step in that direction. However, the game retains the 30-days and 90-days subscription options and ZeniMax replied on the French forums, stating that this decision was made because players preferred the shorter subscription models.

Despite this explanation, the forums are now divided in two factions: the ones that believe this was made in preparation for a free-to-play The Elder Scrolls Online, and those who think that this is just an innocent decision.

Which side will you choose?

Well I think , if Zenimax didn t announced anything yet about making Elder Scrolls Online a f2p game. Then I dont think its going to be a f2p game.
Anyway we cannot be sure yet what Is going to happen.

One thing I dont understand yet:

However, the game retains the 30-days and 90-days subscription options and ZeniMax replied on the French forums, stating that this decision was made because players preferred the shorter subscription models.

Why woud the players preffer a shorter subscription model? I dont know Is it better ?

Usually, work on transition to F2P begins months, if not a year before any proper announcement, so Zenimax can’t announce it even if it’s true, because they would lose a lot of money from players that buy subscriptions.

As for your question, I guess players prefer to pay for shorter times because they want to see what the game will bring and what will happen to it (ie F2P possibility).

The thing is, they are ready to go free to play, they are only milking players for money. Nothing more, nothing less. When they are done with that, it will go free to play.

I read people comments on the Elder scrolls online forums and many players want a p2p game model.
They said if TESO its going to be a free to play model its going to be boring and the quality of the game will be worse then now.
Because they make the game like that . Its free to play but to Have FUN, you have to buy things .

This is a big mistake !!! because you are forced to buy . They are winning huge amounts of money on the back of the teenagers and Adults

If its a free to play game they should give the player at least 10 to 20 % satisfaction and good chanses to be as stong as those players who buy, but without buyng.

Everybody wants a fair and well balanced game. Thats all !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There are a few examples of great F2P games with good balance, such as SMITE, Team Fortress 2 or Path of Exile. If TESO doesn’t go the fair F2P way, then it’s the publisher’s fault, not the model’s fault.

They can do it if they want to, but when someone goes greedy they ruin the game 😐

if this will be a f2p game i think it will be p2w ,cuz if they dont get money to host the server it will go bankrupt or shutdown, cuz if they would like to maintain the servers they will ask us to donate or something, so it would be nice to atleast lower the price however, like there are people around who would like to pay for the time they played cuz not everyone is an addict who play only eso 24/7 >.>
