Game of Thrones official title announced

Bigpoint is working on a free-to-play MMO adaptation of the popular HBO series Game of Thrones and was scratching its head to discover an appealing subtitle. After what we imagine as months of brainstorming the official title was revealed – Game of Thrones: Seven Kingdoms.

According to Bigpoint, this title is easily recognizable by diehard fans of thrones and is perfectly fitting since the free-to-play browser-based game will be set within the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros. In context of the lore, the Seven Kingdoms were originally independent countries which rose up over thousands of years until the Targaryens ruled over them as one nation of Westeros. Game of Thrones Seven Kingdoms begins after the deaths of King Robert Baratheon and Ned Stark. The Starks of the north declare war on the south and Baratheon’s two brothers both make claims to the throne. Players are challenged to form alliances through Player vs. Player (PvP), Siege combat and politics to control Westeros.

Development is being handled in collaboration with Artplant, the same studio responsible for Battlestar Galactica Online, with both games running on the Unity engine.

The first Game of Thrones: Seven Kingdoms trailer will be revealed during the San Diego Comic-Con (July 12-15). Visit http://www.GameofThronesMMO.com/ for more information on this game.
