Itagaki’s Devil’s Third coming to PC as free-to-play

Ninja Gaiden creator Tomonobu Itagaki's upcoming Wii U action game Devil's Third is also coming to PC and as a free-to-play title. However, this version will be named Devil’s Third Online and will be multiplayer only – the Wii U version includes a single-player story mode.

While the Wii U version is planned to launch in several regions starting August, the F2P Devil's Third Online is scheduled for September and is described as ‘free-to-start', something that isn't exactly clear at this time – will it follow the traditional free-to-play business model or will it be some sort of glorified trial? We'll find out soon.

Devil's Third isn't getting a lot of praise judging from early previews, but we'll reserve judgment for later, especially considering – and hoping – that Itagaki's trademark difficulty and combo-based gameplay is still around and adds some depth to the game that takes some time to actually discover.

Devil's Third developer Valhalla Game Studios is the new studio from Tomonobu Itagaki, creator of Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive, or the game where mostly sexy girls fight in little clothing.
