Killer Instinct launches as free-to-play on PC, cross-platform with XB1

The pretty cool Xbox One brawler Killer Instinct is finally available on PC and features cross-play and cross-platform saves and purchases. It's a Windows 10 exclusive, just the same as the constantly delayed MOBA Gigantic and the canceled Fable Legends. The PC version of Killer Instinct was revealed during E3 2015 and is now available in the Windows Store.

A single player mode is coming later this Season 3 with Shadow Lords, an “infinitely replayable solo player mode that pits you and a team of fighters that you’ve assembled against Gargos’ invasion of Earth.” This mode is “part ladder, part arcade mode, part story mode, and part roguelike, all rolled up into one unique experience”, Microsoft says. The next few months should also bring a few new characters.

The new Killer Instinct is a reboot of the classic fighting game from the '90s. This remake was developed by Double Helix Games but development duties are now on Iron Galaxy Studios since Season 2.

With Killer Instinct, we may finally wipe the tears that we shed over the cancelation of Rising Thunder. Robots are so soulless, anyway, right?
