Nexon America partners with First Strike Games for a new multiplayer online game

Nexon America has just revealed a partnership with the new studio First Strike Games for the worldwide publishing and marketing right of its first title, an unannounced multiplayer online game. First Strike Games was founded in 2016 by industry veterans from studios such as 343 Industries (Halo 5 – Microsoft) and EA Blackbox, and is focused on creating competitive multiplayer games for PC and consoles.

The studio is entering full production of this new IP and growing its team from 30 to over 50 developers. Little is known about the upcoming game, but it is said to have “broad appeal” and an E10+ rating, with more details coming during this year.

The official First Strike Games website is still a bit empty, with some job offers for interested developers to browse, but no actual hints about the theme of the game. We see two strong possibilities: a MOBA or a first-person shooter. However, Nexon already has Hyper Universe coming this year to North America and Europe, and as far as shooters go, the publisher has Cliff Bleszinski’s Boss Key Productions Lawbreaker as one of its biggest bets (it's not free-to-play anymore, though). So, we're curious to know what is in the works at First Strike.

“Partnering with First Strike Games is another example of our focus on and commitment to working with the best development talent in the Western market,” said Owen Mahoney, president and CEO, Nexon. “This partnership will leverage First Strike Games’ passion and unbeatable background in multiplayer games and our deep expertise in online services to build innovative games that appeal to global tastes and engage communities of players that will stand the test of time.”

“We are super focused on competitive multiplayer games at First Strike,” said Kevin Franklin, CEO, First Strike Games. “In Nexon, we found a partner who has truly understood the gameplay we are exploring, has embraced our company vision and has contributed great ideas and expertise. We are looking forward to making amazing games together.”
