Ragnarok Online 2 open beta postponed

On December 7th, 2012 Gravity’s Ragnarok Online ll started its Closed Beta events. In order for the studio to test this fantasy themed sequel to the original Ragnarok Online, gamers who tested Ragnarok Online ll were enticed with exciting events and prizes to be won.

On December 13th, 2012 the servers were then closed in order for all bugs and technical issues encountered during the closed beta testing to be fixed. Open Beta testing for gamers was then set to be on December 27th, 2012. And in order to further reward gamers for their input in the testing of Ragnarok Online ll, a contest was released. The contest’s duration was set to be from December 27th to January 31st.

In order to qualify for the contest players have to:

“Reach Level 25 and change to the Advance Job. 5 lucky players who do this will win USD400. There’s a total of USD2,000 to be won so give it your best shot!

Want more? Be the first 1,000 players to reach level 50 and you will walk away with 5,000 @Cash for your spending pleasure!”

Now with a reward of 400 – 2,000 US dollars who wouldn’t want to participate in the contest?

On December 26th,2012, with a day to go till the long awaited Open Beta Testing, the developers of Ragnarok Online ll announced that they were excited for the OBT and had added new journeys for gamers to explore such as

A PVP Arena  – http://ro2.playpark.net/game-info/pvp-arena/

A Dungeon Arena – http://ro2.playpark.net/game-info/dungeon-arena/

And The Garden of Baphomet –http://ro2.playpark.net/game-info/garden-of-baphomet/

But when then actual date of the Open Beta launch came around on December 27th, 2012, the response from gamers was so overwhelming that both the website and the server were severely congested, and many players were unable to access the game.

The developers posted an announcement on the 28th of December apologizing for all the various problems that their loyal gamers faced and even to those who were unable to access the game at all. They continue by saying that they are committed to getting the game back up and running smoothly this time. But in order to do that they are forced to both postpone the beloved Open Beta testing until January 3rd as well as they have to wipe all character data accumulated between December 27th and January 3rd. Until then the developers say that they “know that this decision will anger and upset many of their treasured players, and while they earnestly wish to cater to every single player’s wants and needs, their top priority remains in stabilizing the game servers so that all Asgardians can enjoy it, and being as fair as possible to the majority of our players.”

The developers ask gamers to bear with them and continue to participate in the game. They will be performing stress tests on all the servers from now on until January 3rd to be sure that these problems won’t happen again.

Now to all you Asgardians out there I say good luck and we will keep you updated.
