Just like Trion Worlds recently announced, RIFT is free-to-play for everyone starting today. One of the last bastions of the subscription-based MMORPG, RIFT will most certainly see a boost in playerbase and revenue in the coming weeks, if recent numbers shown by Star Wars: The Old Republic or TERA Rising are any indication.
Trion Worlds is sticking by its no trials, no tricks, and no traps motto, saying that all of RIFT’s levels, content and features are available to free players and the game won’t turn into pay-to-win.
Along with the free-to-play announcement, RIFT also received the update 2.3: Empyreal Assault which brings a new zone, the Dendrome, and several new features. You can watch the announcement trailer below.
