SOE president John Smedley's Reddit AMA was the place to reveal a few online games that the studio is going to shut down this year. Among them is Wizardry Online, the recent permadeath MMORPG which did well in Japan but according to Smedley, just didn't work in the US.
Other games include the cartoon MMORPG Free Realms, Vanguard: Saga of Heroes and Star Wars: Clone Wars Adventures. Here it wasn't a matter of the games not performing – Free Realms is a game that performed quite well for many years – but of costs and resources to maintain the code bases.
Vanguard and Wizardry Online will shut down on July 31, 2014, while Free Realms and Star Wars: Clone Wars Adventures go down on March 31, 2014.
