Star Wars: Attack Squadrons canceled “for other Star Wars games”

Announced in December 2013, Star Wars: Attack Squadrons didn't resist for long to the dreaded arm of cancellation. Disney decided to cancel this free-to-play space combat game that was in development at Area 52 games. The official website now holds this lonely message:

“We want to thank all of the fans who participated in the closed beta of Star Wars: Attack Squadrons. After much consideration, we have decided to cease development so that we can focus on other Star Wars game experiences. We truly appreciate the time you spent engaging in the beta.”

Star Wars: Attack Squadrons had three competitive modes revealed during the announcement: Free For All, Team Dogfight and Base Defense. Players could customize their spaceships with points earned in-game.
