Is this the Sword Art Online game you asked for?

sword art online

There’s so much demand for a Sword Art Online MMO game that it’s hard to understand why a big studio still hasn’t revealed anything like it. On the other hand, there have been a few SAO games and now Namco Bandai is developing a SAO mobile game titled Sword Art Online: Code Register, expected later this year on iOS and Android in Japan.

Sword Art Online: Code Register reunites the characters from the three worlds (Sword Art Online, Alfheim Online and Gun Gale Online) in what is pretty much a collecting card game where players enter battles with up to 6 characters. The art style is pretty cool, we would say.

It kinda looks nice and could be a decent time killer. But the series deserves a much, much bigger game.

    I never asked for this.

Apparently, no one did. Everyone wants a SAO MMORPG but no one seems to have the guts to do it (or the proper license).

The game might actually just be ripping “Brave Frontier” off, which is another mobile MMO. Interface, characters’ arts, and gameplay seem quite similar.

      Pretty much Brave Frontier, yes.

I’d much rather see a [dot] Hack MMO than Sword Art Online and it’s creepy, fanservice-y, lazy harem bent that takes priority over anything interesting in terms of storytelling.

When Asuna saves Kirito from death by just breaking out of her paralysis – ‘cuz bad storytelling – you should feel bad for getting this far.

When Kirito finds the designer of the game after freeing everyone, and asks him why did he do it, and the guy says, “I forgot. It’s been a long time”, you should be flipping off the TV. What an “eff you” to the audience.

When that creepy dude wants to marry a preteen who’s in a coma, and then rapes her in-game (or close enough – whatever the hell goes on in Ep.21 or so)? It’s DONE. F–k this horrible anime. Pervy animators, and most fans, just wanna see Asuna naked.

The first 5 episodes, which are in fact very good, should exist on their own and the rest can go die in a ditch. And then the ditch can get tossed into a river. And then you can fling that river into the Sun.

dot Hack needs to be an actual MMO. Which Bandai Namco also owns. Or Tales. Peria Chronicles looks a lot like a Tales game anyway – convinced me that Tales of Phantasia Online would probably be really sweet :)

I don’t watch the show but your description makes it sound like the writing is pretty whatever. xD

an mmo based on sword art online should be have the same kind of world, monsters, combat systems and so on, but it shouldn’t be played with the main characters!

Exactly, but that’s how MMOs with popular licenses usually go (LOTRO, for example), you don’t play with the main characters, you just meet them in-game.

If you want an SAO type MMO check out Age of Aincrad (i think i spelled it right) still in very early development but I think they got the right idea of what fans would expect, can’t wait to see the finished product.

Sword art online is not really possible for now although there are ideas for it to make a complicated combat system.

the idea is that 2 controllers are used like you see in that mecha anime’s with a VR visor that might make it cool if they want to make an mmo of it XD

for now you can just play mabinogi as a sort of SAO
