News:

Fable Legends is going to be free-to-play
In a surprising twist, Lionhead has revealed that the upcoming Fable Legends is going to be free-to-play. Everyone’s jumping on the free-to-play bandwagon nowadays, it seems. The PC and Xbox One cross-platform title is a 4 versus 1 affair, just like the recently released Evolve, but there’s a MOBA twist – it will contain hero rotation every two weeks. Lionhead promises that the game will be fair and entirely free, with no areas behind pay walls or time limits. You’ll have to buy heroes with real money though, or purchase them with in-game currency, and it apparently takes an average of 14 days to earn enough silver. If you’re excited for this Unreal Engine 4-powered game, know that it requires a Windows 10 PC or an Xbox Live Gold subscription for Xbox One, so take that into account. It should be out later this year.

TERA's new update is live, brings skycastles
TERA just got another update and this time it’s guild focused. The best guilds will get to brag from their own castle in the sky. This update brings the Skycastle Guild Housing System, a Guild Competition Crusade System, the new 5-player Sky Cruiser Endeavor dungeon, the 5v5 PvP arena Champions’ Skyring and plenty more activities and rewards. Skycastles are prestigious symbols hovering over two of the game’s major cities and the top 10 guilds in each league will earn one of these impressive palaces for the duration of the next Crusade, which lasts four weeks. TERA currently has over 17 million registered users and is still one of the top MMORPGs around the world.

Skyforge's first closed beta announced
The Skyforge closed beta is finally dated – it will begin on March 11. However, it will run for a single week. The Skyforge beta will include PvE and PvP modes, a first look at the Orders of Aelion system, progression in the Ascension Atlas and the ability to play as several brand new classes including the Lightbinder, Gunner and Berserker, besides Paladin and Cryomancer. You can also purchase a founder’s pack for immediate access and some perks – prices range from $19.99 up to $69.99.

Black Desert Online gets sixth class, the Blader
The Black Desert Online world just got a bit more crowded, with the release of the sixth class, the Blader. The Blader is the fastest character yet in this MMORPG and also the most oriental-themed one, having the look and feel of a Samurai. The Blader uses a sword but is also capable of summoning a dark spirit sword called a Tiger Blade, turning into a dual-wielding class. He also has a bow which helps him to knock down enemies and quickly dash upon them. Now, which playable class will the studio add next? We would love to see the Wizard, aka Gandalf, and you?

Bellona joins the SMITE roster
Bellona, Goddess of War, recently joined the SMITE battleground. She is the first new god to join the Season 2 of SMITE. Bellona has a variety of weapons, including a hammer for a devastating spin attack. But the best thing about her was that we had a giveaway where you could win Bellona as well as her alternate skin, Battle Maiden. If you didn’t participate in time, here’s a reminder that we usually have SMITE giveaways, so don’t forget to keep an eye out on FreeMMOStation.com.

Two new sci-fi MOBA games announced
Another day, another MOBA. No, scratch that – two MOBAs! Well, you definitely can’t complain about not having enough games to choose from. We’ll begin with Warhammer 40,000: Dark Nexus Arena, a game that will blend the usual online battle arena gameplay with that of twin stick shooters. You’ll get to play with Space Marine, Ork, and Tau armies in battles to the death, with more to come later. This game is set for a 2016 release on PC but the Early Access phase is scheduled for Q2 2015. Then we have Bandai Namco Games’ Supernova, another sci-fi MOBA where players must battle as humans or aliens to save their race from extinction. You can also deploy infantry, mechanized land and air units in RTS style, something that makes for a bit of diversity. We’ll keep an eye out for these games, as well as the hundreds of MOBAs that will be revealed in the coming weeks.

‘Find the Game’ Quiz

This game is like a voxel-based No Man’s Sky, an ambitious and mesmerizing project created by a passionate indie team. It’s still early in development, but given time it could turn out to be really great. The first one to write the answer in the comments will see his name featured in the next Free to Play Unlimited episode.

Most Wanted: Triad Wars

Triad Wars is the next game in the Sleeping Dogs universe and it’s going to be free-to-play. We’re expecting it to be a great mix of open world action, RPG and strategy, as well as damn violent.

Your goal will be to rise to power as a criminal kingpin in the triad underworld of Hong Kong. We like to think of it as some sort of GTA MMO, except with a bit of focus on the strategic side of things – you know, stuff like running businesses such as extortion, money laundering and smuggling goods. Everyone plays in one server but this will be an asynchronous game, which means that you'll be competing against a smaller set of players at any one time, so don’t expect hundreds of players in your game.

Let’s hope United Front Games gets the business model right and if so, we’ll definitely be living the life of a Hong Kong crime boss when it releases later this year.
