News:

Soul Worker resurfaces, Japanese launch in September
Soul Worker is finally back from its deep sleep and is, surprisingly, nearly finished. This highly anticipated anime action game is about to enter closed beta and we have some new info on it. First of all, Soul Worker is going to launch in Japan, but also in Korea, where Sega is doing the publishing duties. The Japanese launch is planned for September, but the closed beta is limited to 999 lucky players. As far as gameplay goes, the previous months were used to improve the combat system and avoiding the dreaded button mashing. Only three characters are going to launch in the beta, and a room customization system was revealed for the first time, but we have no clue just how deep it is going to be or how it will impact gameplay. There’s no word on a global release, of course, but let’s hope someone brings this game to the west.

New female class with mechanical arms coming to TERA
TERA is getting a new class really soon, apparently a female with mechanical arms. Oddly enough, she looks a lot like Vi from League of Legends, as it was mentioned quite a few times already. This is going to be the 11th class in TERA and everything points to her being gender-locked, judging by the two trailers already revealed. While there’s still no official name, it’s clear that she is a melee class and packs quite a punch, obviously. While this class should land in the Korean server this summer, North American and European players will probably get her sometime near the end of 2015. Meanwhile, TERA North America recently received the Go Berserk update, which adds quite a lot of cool things to the game.

Skyforge enters open beta on July 16
It took quite a long time but Skyforge is finally entering open beta on July 16th. Soon you’ll all be able to rise to god status in this ambitious MMORPG. After a few closed betas and a short early access phase, Skyforge is opening its doors to everyone. Developed by Allods Team, makers of Allods Online, in a partnership with renowned studio and RPG specialist Obsidian Entertainment, this is one of the big titles of the year. Open beta will bring thirteen classes and a dynamic combat system, with the following weeks bringing more content to the game, including classes, regions, missions and a variety of new endgame features and game modes.

Trove has officially launched
Another contender has entered the Minecraft arena. Trove, the voxel sandbox from Trion Worlds, has officially launched a few days ago. Trove is a cute sandbox MMO obviously inspired by Minecraft, but don’t let that comparison diminish it – the game has a lot going for it if you like action games with a lot to do on the side. The launch also brought the new class Tomb Raiser – obviously a pun with Tomb Raider, but only in the name – and the studio is already working on more stuff such as PvP and a Mac client.

‘Find the Game’ Quiz

Skyforge isn’t the only sci-fi upcoming MMORPG – there’s another one in the works for quite some time now. This game was actually canceled for a while before another studio came to the rescue. If you like exploring very diverse virtual worlds then you should look forward to this game. The first one to write the answer in the comments will see his name featured in the next Free to Play Unlimited episode.

Most Wanted: MapleStory 2

MapleStory 2 has recently entered open beta in Korea and our very own Scion Storm managed to take a good look at this ambitious game. MapleStory 2 drastically changed the look and feel of the original game, going from side-scrolling to an isometric, cube-based world with chibi characters. The game looks feature-rich though, with plenty to see and do. The world map is huge, bosses look both cute and interesting to fight and the house customization system seems to have plenty of depth. While this is probably one for the younger players, it looks so accomplished and diverse that we can’t wait for an English release, something that was teased over a year ago but has never been mentioned ever since. We do, however, believe it is going to happen, so stay tuned.
