Gotham City Impostors

PUBLISHER: Warner Bros. | DEVELOPER: Monolith | GENRE: Shooter
THEME: Cartoon, Fantasy | PLATFORM: Download | STATUS: Final

Monolith Productions, the makers of F.E.A.R. and Condemned moved away from the horror template to create Gotham City Impostors, a shooter set in a twisted version of Gotham City and starring crazy impostors inspired by the popular DC Comics rivals Batman and The Joker. The characters just have to be seen, some sporting huge bellies, but all of them with their homemade costumes that look like they were made for the worst carnival ever.

Although the game was released for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 in February 2012, only the PC version was re-released as free-to-play in August 2012. Now every player is able to download and enjoy for free this solid first-person shooter, where 12 players battle across the eight maps (25th Floor, Ace Chemical, Amusement Mile, Arkham Asylum, Crime Alley, The Docks, East End, and Gotham Power) and four modes (Team Deathmatch, Fumigation, Bounty Hunter or Psych Warfare) available. There’s even a single player mode where players may try the different weapons and crazy gadgets as well as getting to know the maps. This will come in handy since the arenas have a unique verticality to them, inviting players to use uncommon tactics to surprise their enemies, such as flying straight into the heat.

Progress will unlock new and wacky items such as the trap-in-the-box, the grappling hook, the boomerang or the rollerskates, as well as other customization options including costumes, perks and weaponry.

All the DLC packs released so far for Gotham City Impostors are available for purchase, meaning that several new costumes, weapons, mascots, items and more will enrich the experience for players who enjoy this fast-paced, over the top, unconventional shooter from a studio with a long tradition for polished games. All that is left for you to decide is if you’ll join the Batz or the Jokerz.
