Odin: Valhalla Rising is an MMORPG developed by Lionheart Studio and published by Kakao Games. Inspired by Norse mythology and in development for both PC and mobile with cross-platform play, this is a game that promises a full-blown open world ripe for exploration. Furthermore, the Korean studio is doing its best with Unreal Engine 4, delivering a seamless world that has no loading screens (perhaps except for instanced dungeons) and where what you see is what you get. For example, that castle on the horizon is an actual location that you can visit – much like Genshin Impact or Black Desert‘s distant but real sights.

With land and aerial mounts, you are not limited to the nearby locations. You can fly without any territorial restrictions, with mythological creatures such as griffons and dragons serving as transportation. On foot, your character is able to climb mountains, a much welcome mobility touch. There are at least four continents that you can explore: Midgard, Jotunheim, Niflheim, and Alfheim.

The four Odin: Valhalla Rising classes are the Rogue, Warrior, Priest, and Sorceress. The names may change before the 2021 Korean launch, for example the Sorceress may turn out to be the Mage or Witch, but the roles are exactly what you expect of them.

Motion capture is used to better recreate the movements of the characters and enemies, with real-time changes to reflect emotions. Special attention went to the medieval outfits, with a developer diary showing actors dressed with clothes replicating the setting and being captured and inserted into the game.

The current Odin: Valhalla Rising release date is set for 2021 in Korea, but Kakao Games isn't one to pass on a western release, so it's very likely that North America and Europe players are going to see this epic MMORPG as well.
