Apex Legends Cross Play Support | When is the Cross Platform Release?

Apex Legends Cross Play Support

With the announcement of the Apex Legends Nintendo Switch release date and incoming Steam availability, fans only have a few doubts still lingering on their minds. One of the pressing questions is concerning cross-play support, a features that has been requested by most players since Apex Legends took the gaming world by storm. Released in February 2019 to an unsuspecting crowd, Respawn Entertainment's game was made available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. However, there was no cross-platform play in sight… until now. Is Apex Legends cross play support coming anytime soon?

Apex Legends Cross Play | When Will Apex Legends be Cross Platform?

The answer is yes, Apex Legends cross play support is coming later this year, more specifically during fall 2020. Electronic Arts and Respawn Entertainment delivered the big news on June 19, and the best bit is that it's not limited cross-platform play, quite on the contrary.

Apex Legends cross-platform support covers all the platforms where the game is available, along with the ones where the battle royale game is about to be released. What this means is that players on PC (Steam and Origin), PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch will be able to venture in some exciting cross-play matches by late 2020.

Cross-platform play is likely to do wonders for the player count of Apex Legends. While this is far from being a game where the player base is lacking, it is going to improve matchmaking and competitiveness in ways that other games such as Fortnite Battle Royale managed to do.

However, there is a major event that is yet to be revealed and included into the platforms seen in the picture above. That event is the release of the Apex Legends Mobile version, which is scant in details. It's publicly known that it is under development, but the release date is most likely targeting a distant 2021, meaning that there's still quite a bit of waiting to do. Looking at the big picture, the end of the year is going to be very interesting for Apex Legends and its community.
