Is There a Genshin Impact Xbox Release Planned?

Genshin Impact Xbox Release

Genshin Impact marks the first time that Chinese studio miHoYo develops a game for consoles. After Honkai Impact 3rd, which was first released for Android and iOS, and later for PC, Genshin Impact is also coming to PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. Oddly enough, there are no news on an Xbox One release, despite some rumors stating that it could be under development for the Xbox Series X. So, what is the actual state of a Genshin Impact Xbox release, if something of the sort is planned?

Is Genshin Impact Coming to Xbox?

Genshin Impact Xbox Release

We know for a fact that Genshin Impact isn't launching on Xbox. That much was said by the team miHoYo in our exclusive interview. The statement left no shadow of doubt: “We currently do not have plans to release the game on Xbox.”

Well, that's disheartening for Xbox fans. This makes the Xbox the only console of the big three that isn't getting the anticipated free-to-play open world action RPG. PS4 players will be able to play at the same time as PC and mobile gamers, while Nintendo Switch owners have to wait for a later date, most likely late 2020 or early 2021.

For those who don't want to give up hope yet, there's the “currently” part of the statement. Eventually, miHoYo may feel overwhelmed by the feedback and requests from the community and decide to develop Genshin Impact for Xbox. As unlikely as it sounds, it wouldn't be the first time that a game gets a late release for another platform. Just keep your fingers crossed for a Genshin Impact Xbox release.

Genshin Impact is a solo and co-op experience, but definitely not an MMORPG. It doesn't feature a PvP mode and it isn't in the plans of the studio. Despite the name similarities, it is in no way related to Honkai Impact 3rd, although we wouldn't mind seeing Kiana turning up for a cameo.
