Is Call of Duty Warzone Battlenet Exclusive | Is a Steam Release Planned?

Call of Duty Warzone Battlenet

With the Call of Duty Warzone reveal on March 9 and a release set for the day after, March 10, 2020, Activision is pulling an Apex Legends. Mimicking the way that EA pretty much announced and released its battle royale game simultaneously, the makers of Call of Duty are placing a lot of hope on Warzone. While it is releasing on PC, PS4, and Xbox One as a cross-platform game, is Call of Duty Warzone Battlenet exclusive or is it going to release on Steam as well?

Activision Blizzard has its own digital platform called Battle.net where it services games such as Overwatch, Call of Duty Modern Warfare, and other games including entries from the Diablo and Warcraft series. While Steam has other older Call of Duty games listed, there has been no official announcement concerning a Call of Duty Warzone Steam release, and it is unlikely that this happens.

Judging by this passage taken from the Warzone blog announcement, the PC version is a Battle.net exclusive:

“At launch, players can squad up in trios with their friends on Playstation 4, Battle.net for PC, or Xbox One across two game modes: Battle Royale and Plunder.”

This is very much an unequivocal statement saying that Warzone can only be played via Battle.net on PC. If you still haven't downloaded this app and you're eagerly waiting for Warzone, find some disk space and get that download going. With the March 10, 2020 release date and the thousands of players that will be trying to crash the servers during the few days, the sooner that you get prepared, the better.

Call of Duty Warzone is a new free to play battle royale game that is shaping up to become one of 2020's hits. According to Activision, the download is somewhere between 83GB and 101GB, possibly depending on your platform of choice. No matter where you are going to play Warzone, it is a hefty download, so make sure that you have enough space in your hard disk.
