Ashes of Creation will include a free-to-play Battle Royale mode

Ashes of Creation free-to-play Battle Royale mode

Ashes of Creation is Intrepid Studios' upcoming MMORPG and its Kickstarter campaign had quite a successful run, with over $3 million dollars amassed. We don't talk about Ashes of Creation here because this game will be subscription-based… or at least that is the plan so far.

However, while Intrepid Studios is preparing for Ashes of Creation’s alpha one, there were talks of a Battle Royale mode that was merely going to be used as a quick way to test PvP. It was never going to be included in the final game, they said. Fast forward to now, and Intrepid Studios founder Steven Sharif admits that they now have other ideas for this game mode.

As MassivelyOp has spotted, Ashes of Creation's Battle Royale mode will be playable by everyone in a side arena, along with castle sieges and horde mode. This “alpha one phase one” was renamed to Ashes of Creation: Apocalypse in the process, and this mode will be free-to-play. By playing this mode, you'll earn some stuff for the Ashes of Creation MMORPG itself, mostly cosmetics, furniture and achievements. Sounds like a clever way to get players to try Apocalypse.

You can hear the team talking about this in the stream below, around the 35 minutes mark. However, you can check some gameplay footage before that and all that I can say is… well, it isn't Black Desert Online for sure.
