CCP Games’ shooter Project Nova goes back to the drawing board

Project Nova goes back to the drawing board

EVE Online's developer CCP Games seems to have no luck when it comes to first-person shooters. After the failure of the PS3-only Dust 514, the indecision behind Project Legion and the ultimate transformation into the upcoming Project Nova, this is a long road that has lead nowhere so far.

During the recent EVE Vegas, CCP Games showed the latest iteration of Project Nova to the public and took some valuable feedback home. The idea was to implement what they could before the upcoming invite-only alpha that was coming soon. However, it seems that our prediction was correct and Project Nova failed to convince players, as CCP Games confirms that “the gameplay experience in its current form does not live up to our original vision and would not achieve our ambitious goals for this project.”

CCP Games decided to postpone the Project Nova alpha for an unknown period of time, as the team is taking a step back and “return to the drawing board”, to create something better and more in tune with the EVE universe.

While the studio mentions that it remains committed to delivering a memorable team-based shooter experience and to somehow integrate it with EVE Online, these are definitely bad news. CCP Games says it is in no rush to deliver the game, but if months go by and no major changes unfold, this shooter could very well be doomed to never releasing.
