Destiny 2 free release New Light is available to pre-load on Steam

Destiny 2 free release New Light

The Destiny 2 free release is going to launch tomorrow, October 1, on Steam. Bungie is finally free from the shackles of publisher Activision – who are not the bad guys, Bungie says – and able to fulfill its own MMO shooter vision for Destiny 2: New Light.

You can pre-load the Destiny 2 free release before the official launch, but make sure that you have enough disk space to do so – this shooter will take a whooping 105 GB of storage. This only comes as a surprise to those who don't know the game, because Destiny 2: New Light comes with the main game and the year one expansions, Curse of Osiris and Warmind, along with several other events and features.

The best way to learn about what awaits you is by looking at the image below. It will give you a good idea on the huge amount of content that the free Destiny 2 game has for you.

However, if you want to play the new Shadowkeep expansion, which is also releasing on October 1, you'll have to purchase it. This is a standalone expansion and the definition of the future for Destiny 2: New Light – a free-to-play game with paid expansions.
