Final Fantasy XV online RPG revealed by Square Enix for China

Final Fantasy XV online RPG

Square Enix has revealed today that a Final Fantasy XV online RPG is in development. The Japanese studio isn't too generous on details, but we know that this game is being designed for mobile devices and that the only target territory revealed so far is China.

This upcoming Final Fantasy XV mobile RPG is not to be confused with Final Fantasy XV: A New Empire, the hugely successful but somewhat bland strategy game that was chiefly advertised by American model Alexis Ren. Go ahead and google her, we didn't know who she was as well.

The Final Fantasy XV online RPG is being development in a collaboration between Square Enix, Korean studio JSC, and Chinese studio GAEA. Publishing duties in China will be handled by Shanghai Oriental Pearl Group.

Info on this game is very slim so far, so it's unclear if it is meant to be a Final Fantasy XV MMORPG or if the player count will be significantly low to deserve that label. According to MMOCulture, it is being developed using Unreal Engine 4 and contrary to the original Final Fantasy XV game which was focused on single-player campaign (although an expansion added multiplayer content), it is focused on the multiplayer aspect.

The story will run parallel to the events of Final Fantasy XV, featuring different scenarios and locations. You'll get to explore continents floating in the skies, along with other picturesque places.

There isn't much to sink your teeth into right now, but the first trailer is promised to be revealed during the first half of the year. There is no Final Fantasy XV online RPG release date yet, but we don't see this game making it to western regions unless it becomes a huge success in China.
