Fortnite Battle Royale mode has over 1 million players during the first day

Fortnite Battle Royale

Epic Games is clearly proud to reveal that the new Fortnite Battle Royale mode is a success. During its first day, over one million players flocked to this 100-man PvP battleground. The fact that this is a standalone version and free for everyone – unlike the core Fortnite game which requires an initial purchase for now – surely helped quite a bit.

This mode launched just yesterday and added the first PvP component to Fortnite, something that many players were requesting. Others weren't that pleased, as they prefer to focus on the PvE side of things. It's not a real problem though, as Epic Games has two separate teams working on the Fortnite: one for PvE and the other for PvP.

Fortnite Battle Royale isn't without its controversy though. Playerunknown's Battlegrounds' developer Bluehole first accused Epic Games of “replicating the experience for which PUBG is known“, and later decided that their issues weren't with the Battle Royale genre itself, but with the fact that Epic Games is the developer of the Unreal Engine, the one that supports PUBG, and they fear this could become a problem.

Nonetheless, both games are proving to be very popular, although we hardly find them to be rivals. Are you enjoying Fortnite Battle Royale?
