Free Game Alert: The poetic RiME is free on the Epic Games Store, don’t miss it

RiME free game epic games store

RiME is possibly one of the most underrated games ever. It's not that it isn't cherished by those that decided to play it, it's just that I have the feeling that it was mostly ignored by the majority of players and a commercial failure. Life can be unfair, and RiME is proof of that.

RiME is now free for a couple of days on the Epic Games Store. Grab the game and keep it forever until May 30 (10: 59 AM EDT).

RiME has an inherent charm and poetry to it that very few games manage to express. It's often compared to another overlooked classic, ICO, as you play the role of a young boy who awakens on a mysterious island after a thunderstorm. An enigmatic fox seems to guide your every step and it's a matter of finding out where you are and, most importantly, who you are.

It's a game that is as much about exploration as it is about puzzles and the occasional bit of stealth. You will stare in awe at the view, scratch your head at some of the puzzles and the meaning of it all – yes, there is a twist coming – and probably feel a little touched when it all ends. And that damn bird, what is it that it wants?

Sure, RiME can be a bit tiring as some puzzles seem to drag, but the discovery of new regions and amazing set-pieces are absolutely worth persevering. You would have to be a fool not to grab this game right now!

This is just another game in a long line of games that the Epic Games Store has offered so far. Most of them, if not all, are of indisputable high quality, as you can see from the previous offers: supernatural teen thriller Oxenfree, puzzle game The Witness, action RPG Transistor, amazing story-based walking simulator What Remains of Edith Finch and the action platformer Axiom Verge.

The next in line is City of Brass, a first-person action adventure created by some BioShock developers.
