Steel Circus begins Early Access

The futuristic sports game Steel Circus begins Early Access on August 8, 2019, developer Iron Mountain has announced. This spiritual sequel to Speedball 2, as I like to call it, will be available as a free-to-play game on Steam.

The Early Access will feature six champions, with the latest one being Acrid, a Predator-like kind of monstrosity. He is part machine, part creature and a creation of Saturn's scientists. He doesn't speak but understands spoken language, although I don't think that this affects his arena performance in any way. Looking at his stats, he has a nice health bar but his power is minimal, something that seems at odds with his appearance.

You can also expect two arenas, each one with different variations. This probably means the configuration of bumpers and other obstacles. The original arena sports a really cool sci-fi look, but I couldn't find any info on the new arena, so it's anyone's guess where it is set.

Finally, Steel Circus' Early Access brings a Quickmatch mode and a Training Ground, along with over 150 customization options.

You'll be able to purchase a package with all current and future champions, with in-game microtransactions for cosmetics only.

Supported languages include English, French, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish and Turkish.
