gamigo makes Trion Worlds acquisition official

gamigo has officially commented on its recent acquisition of US publisher and developer Trion Worlds. The German publisher mentions the outlines of the deal, which includes an interesting detail.

gamigo acquired Trion Worlds via an ““Assignment for the Benefit of the Creditors” process, in which the buyer only buys those assets, with which he wishes to continue the business.” This means that they only acquired what they wanted, which was the “majority of assets, including the platform” and gets full publishing rights for the games. gamigo mentions games “such as Rift, Defiance, Trove and ArcheAge”, but it's odd that they left Atlas Reactor out of the equation. Could this mean that gamigo doesn't want to continue development of the tactical multiplayer game?

As you probably recall, there were significant layoffs after this acquisition, but gamigo didn't comment on this, only saying that it “takes over employees to operate the business.” How many employees, it wasn't revealed. With this acquisition, gamigo expects additional revenues of over $18 million USD.
