Genshin Impact Controller Support | Can You Play with a Gamepad on PC?

Genshin Impact Controller Support

Genshin Impact is a game that can be enjoyed on PC by playing with the reliable keyboard and mouse combo, but what about controllers? Since this is an action-based open world adventure, it is naturally suited for controller gameplay, and that is likely going to be the choice for many gamers. Did developer miHoYo consider the possibility of adding Genshin Impact controller support, or are PC players restricted to the most common control method? Let's see what choices you have.

If you feel that the exploration and action style of the Genshin Impact gameplay is more suited to a controller or gamepad, you're in luck. There's PS4 and Xbox One/Elite controller support for the PC version since day one. Just grab your gamepad and freely explore the vast world of Teyvat.

This doesn't mean that Genshin Impact won't extend controller support to other brands. As miHoYo said, they are in a continuous process of “optimizing the controller experience and compatibility”, so hopefully many more options will be available in the near future.

In case you are having some trouble with the controller, more specifically an issue with connecting the controller that renders you unable to change settings in Genshin Impact, here's a bit of troubleshooting for you: in your PC, go to Settings, open up the Control Panel, choose Devices and Printers, and check if there's some kind of conflict going on with your virtual controller inputs.

Genshin Impact is miHoYo's most ambitious title to date. The Chinese studio found success with the release of the anime action RPG Honkai Impact 3rd for mobile devices, with a PC port releasing by late 2019. The hype surrounding Genshin Impact is huge, and while this game isn't an MMORPG as many players have hoped for – there's no PvP mode as well -, it is a wonderful and challenging solo and co-op experience that is unique in many ways.
