Genshin Impact final closed beta begins July 2 for PS4, PC, and Mobile

Genshin Impact final closed beta

MiHoYo has announced that the Genshin Impact final closed beta will start on July 2, 2020. One of our most anticipated games will be available to a select few once again on PC and mobile devices, but PlayStation 4 players are finally able to join the testing phase. Sadly, Nintendo Switch owners looking forward to this online anime RPG have to sit tight and wait for the opportunity to arise in further test stages.

One of the big features for the beta is the premiere of the cross-platform co-op mode. Everyone will be able to join their friends in Genshin Impact, so long as they are playing on PS4, PC, Android, or iOS. Up to four players may participate in joint monster hunts or dungeon running.

The Genshin Impact final closed beta is once again featuring two of the seven main cities that are planned for the long run. You get to explore Mondstadt and Liyue, two picturesque and very different locations from the world of Teyvat. The former one reminds us of medieval German architecture, with towering windmills and a bucolic feel to it, while the latter is inspired by Eastern design and is even home to a lovely lantern rite event.

There's a wide range of playable characters, more than a dozen in fact, some of which you unlock by progressing in the story, while others can be earned via gacha. We don't know if there are any surprises in store for us, but during the previous beta we managed to try Fischl, the electric princess. You can find the full list of Genshin Impact characters revealed until now, knowing that only a few of them such as Chongyun didn't make it into the previous test. Peeking at the recent Chinese beta, we spotted this amazing character called La Signora, which could either be a villain or a playable character… we'll see.

Combat in Genshin Impact is one of the high points. You can switch between a team of four characters, each one with its own elemental trait. Combining these traits creates different effects, so you have to be aware of the specifics of your enemies. They may be more resistant to fire, water, wind, electricity, and so on, and it's up to you to create devastating combos.

The Genshin Impact release date is set for late 2020 for PC, PS4, Switch, Android, and iOS. The final beta begins July 2 and runs for an unknown period of time – developer miHoYo has extended the expected length of previous betas, so this is probably why the team doesn't want to commit to an ending date.
