Happy 2018 and farewell, says Hawken to PC players

Hawken has a very odd way of wishing everyone a happy 2018: to shut down the PC version entirely.

In fact, this isn't news at all – the original announcement was made in October 2017 and mentioned the shutdown of the Hawken PC Steam servers. It's all over today, and for some weird reason as the PC version still had a few players around (not many, but enough for some hot mech battles). There is no word on the fate of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions, which apparently continue unscathed by this decision.

Now, we can only wait and see what the “refocusing of our development efforts” actually means. Will the developers properly focus on the console versions or are they planning another game?
