Hunt: Showdown is coming to Steam Early Access, not free-to-play

Farewell, Hunt: Showdown, it was nice to meet you. Crytek has just revealed that this competitive first-person PvP-meets-PvE shooter is coming to Steam Early Access soon.

But what spiked our curiosity was the game FAQ, as it could reveal something that Crytek wasn't willing to talk about previously. It is there that we finally discover that Hunt: Showdown is not going to be free-to-play, but is going to have a buy-to-play business model, with a slightly lower price during Early Access.

And so it is with a heavy heart – considering that the previous iteration of this game, Hunt: Horrors of the Gilded Age was going to be free-to-play – that we wish the best to Hunt: Showdown, and will stop our coverage here. There's a lot of potential to this game and unless Crytek screws this up badly, it will easily find a significant player base, as some of the mechanics are pretty unusual.
