Lost Ark: 20-minute features trailer is jaw dropping

Grab some popcorn, sit back and relax; you're about to watch nearly 20 minutes of one of the most anticipated games that South Korea is going to bring to the world: Lost Ark. And we do mean the world, since Lost Ark is going to have a worldwide release. Smilegate and Tripod Studio unleashed this stunning online action RPG just a few days ago and it completely managed to capture the attention of every Diablo fan out there, but also of those that were desperately waiting for news on the also hack and slash, also ambitious Lineage Eternal: Twilight Resistance. Despite using an isometric perspective, Lost Ark is in full and beautiful 3D, with the frequent close-ups showing that the approach wasn't chosen due to lack of visual quality, but purely for gameplay purposes, unlike many other games. Will it make it a better game than it would be by using the regular third-person perspective? We have no clue at the moment.

The new trailer covers so much about the game that the only way to do it justice is to watch it in full. But we'll mention some of the topics here. A few classes are revealed, out of the planned 18 total: Battle Master, Devil Hunter, Arcana, Infighter, Summoner, Berserker and Warlord. The tripod system is introduced – this is something that allows you to create combos with elements such as fire, ice or earth. Then there's the world map, which you can explore by sailing in your ship and even attempting to raid a ghost ship! There's a host of hidden areas and interactions (such as rescuing someone or make him fall to his death) as well as mini-games (drinking and gambling), and a pet that sniffs buried treasure. Bosses are extremely impressive to watch and battle, and the dungeons have this innovative cinematic feel to them, with the camera taking different approaches to the action and making players all the more emotionally invested in what's going on.

No matter what we say about Lost Ark, this game is showing such an impressive quality in every department, from visuals to content and gameplay ideas that it immediately became one of our most anticipated MMORPGs, rubbing shoulders with Black Desert Online. This is shaping up to be one of the big games of 2015.
