New studio Redhill Games by former Remedy CEO to focus on F2P games

Redhill Games Remedy CEO

“We are a free to play PC game studio formed by a team of industry veterans.” Such is the bold statement that is visible as soon as you visit the Redhill Games website. This is a new studio created by veterans of the industry, including former Remedy Entertainment CEO Matias Myllyrinne, who also worked at Wargaming, most specifically in World of Tanks and World of Warships. Redhill Games also has veterans from studios like Guerrilla Games, Starbreeze, Next Games and more.

Redhill Games is clearly focused on the “very competitive market” of free-to-play games, and is already working on its first PC game(s). The studio is focusing on “free-to-play tactical shooters and ongoing games-as-a-service titles”, rallying around the concept of cooperative and social play, and fair monetization models.

About free-to-play. Myllyrinne says that “it can be done right, so you don’t have buyer’s regret.”

It's always great to see a new studio popping up, and coming from one of the big minds behind games such as Quantum Break, Alan Wake, and Max Payne, it's something to keep an eye out for. The bad news is that we probably won't see anything of this game before a year or two.
