Nexon financial results mention Moonlight Blade and tease Embark Studios’ game [updated]

Embark Studios new game Nexon

Update:

Nexon contacted us and clarified the Moonlight Blade issue by stating that the reason for the game to show up in the North America and Rest of the World area as a key title is that it is being serviced in Taiwan. No official announcement for a North America or Europe release has been made so far.

Original story:

Nexon has just released its financial results for the fourth quarter and full year of 2019. The focus is on which games performed the best during the past year, but what interests us the most is what the Korean company has in store for 2020.

But first, let's look at what 2019 brought to Nexon. MapleStory and MapleStory M were very successful in Korea, with FIFA Online 4 showing some interesting year-over-year growth. The new mobile and PC MMORPG V4 has been “exceeding expectations since its Q4 2019 launch” in Korea. A V4 global release is most likely planned, but nothing official has been confirmed.

As for what the future brings, Nexon seems confident that three titles are going to make some waves. Kartrider Drift is the Unreal Engine 4-powered cross-platform game that you may have already played during the beta; Dungeon&Fighter 2D Mobile is a portable spin-off that could become a huge hit in China, where the PC version still dominates; and Embark Studios' new multiplayer co-op action game is getting a big reveal during 2020.

In case you are wondering about the fate of Moonlight Blade, the fantasy martial arts MMORPG that Nexon has confirmed to be in the pipeline for North America and Europe, we have news. The presentation shows this game, but doesn't mention a 2020 release date. Instead, it labels it as a “key title” for “North America and rest of the world,” as you can see in the image below. Knowing that China, Korea, and Japan have their individual areas, either Moonlight Blade will be a low profile release, has already released in the west without anyone noticing (not very likely), or is going to release in a country that isn't included in the report. Australia, perhaps?

Sarcasm aside, it would be good to get some closure on Moonlight Blade, so let's hope that 2020 will show us what is going on with the English release.
