Odin: Valhalla Rising MMORPG gameplay and publisher revealed, next big thing?

Odin: Valhalla Rising MMORPG

Odin: Valhalla Rising is the latest one in a series of promising MMORPGs coming from South Korea. Developed by new Korean outfit Lionheart Studio using Unreal Engine 4, this MMORPG is in development for PC and mobile. This could hint at cross-platform play, but it's too soon to know if this is going to be a reality. The first Odin: Valhalla Rising MMORPG gameplay trailer was revealed, showing some in-game cinematics, bosses, and additional footage.

The whole thing feels a bit epic, with obvious ambition and a feel that seems to mimic games like Black Desert Online. There's so much potential that this game, which was previously known as Project Odin, was already snagged up by Kakao Games. The publisher already has Elyon – Ascent: Infinite Realm in store for the western territories, but Krafton's game is suffering from major delays. Now, they were quick to see something special in Odin: Valhalla Rising, and we agree with them. A global release is likely but yet to be confirmed, but Korea is surely getting the game before everyone else.

Don't Miss: NetEase reveals Project: Ragnarok MMORPG with promising cinematic

Odin: Valhalla Rising is described as an open world MMORPG with seamless areas, although it is likely to have a bit of loading for some instanced dungeons. As the name implies, you get to explore regions such as Midgard, Jotunheim, Niflheim, Alfheim, Void Corps, and more, and you're bound to find plenty of creatures from the Norse mythology, including the intimidating Yggdrasil. This is no Ragnarok Online for sure.

There are four classes in the Odin: Valhalla Rising MMORPG based on the standard MMORPG tropes: Warrior, Sorceress, Priest, and Rogue. Motion capture seems to play a big part in bringing the in-game characters to life, as the trailer clearly shows. Besides, there's a nearly nude witch boss creature, so what's not to like?

Watch the trailer below and head over to the official website for more details on classes and the game world. The Odin: Valhalla Rising release date is yet to be announced, but our guess is that it won't be released before late 2021.
