Path of Exile Convention ExileCon is promising huge announcements

Path of Exile Convention

The Path of Exile Convention ExileCon was announced in March and the dates for the first ever Path of Exile exclusive event are fast approaching. If you purchased a ticket, you should be in New Zealand from Saturday, November 16 through Sunday, November 17.

Developer Grinding Gear Games is promising “huge announcements,” along with hands-on previews for upcoming Path of Exile expansions. What could be a huge announcement from the studio that brought us Path of Exile, and nothing more?

Perhaps a new game? It's worth hoping for, if we look at the example set by Riot Games – successfully focusing on League of Legends for several years, the studio is now working on many new projects, including the League of Legends fighting game, an action RPG, a first-person shooter, and the card game Legends of Runeterra, among others.

There is certainly a lot of room for the studio to diversify its offer, even more considering that giant Chinese corporation Tencent owns the developer since 2018. Tencent is also the owner of Riot Games, which makes the product diversity idea sound somewhat reasonable.

As for the upcoming Path of Exile expansions, there's the 3.9.0 expansion coming in December 2019, and the 4.0.0 mega-expansion, slated for late 2020.

Path of Exile Convention ExileCon will feature Grinding Gear Games founders Chris Wilson, Jonathan Rogers, and Erik Olofsson, along with several known PoE streamers: Zizaran, ZiggyD, Mathil, Ghazzy, Octavian0, Raiz, Tarke, Nugiyen, Havoc, and Quin69, as well as famed gaming streamers Kripparrian and Rhykker. Tickets are still available on the official website.

In a couple of weeks we'll know if Grinding Gear Games has more in store for us, or if Path of Exile will remain as its sole focus.
