Phantasy Star Online 2 and Tales of Zestiria crossover is awesome

One of Phantasy Star Online 2 Japanese version's biggest guilty pleasures is crossovers with other famous games – Sega has done it with Sonic, Valkyria Chronicles, Virtua Fighter 5 and more. Now it's time to do it with Bandai Namco’s Tales of Zestiria, a game that was recently released in Japan and will arrive in North America this summer. Unlike Phantasy Star Online 2, which we're apparently never going to get, despite the recent comments of Sega just stating that it is delayed. Sure.

Anyway, take a good long look at the crossover images here, which are actually pretty cool. Playing PSO2 is another thing entirely though.

That’s pretty cool. I’m a huge Tales fan currently enjoying the heck out of Xillia 2 (as if my Avatar didn’t give it away) and have Zestiria Pre-Ordered 😀

Some of that gear looks really, really great on those PSO2 characters too. Sorey looks a little weird, but everyone else is aces. It really looks great! And it’s nice seeing Tales art in a game with much, much better technology powering it. As much as I love Xillia + Xillia 2, they (and Zestiria, and likely Vesperia on the 360) are just built on some really old “Super PS2”-level tech and it’s really annoying to see it struggle to do simple things. Seeing it with PSO2 lighting and rendering and whatnot just looks great!
