Pokémon-like Moonrise isn’t profitable, shuts down December 31

Sad news for those who were enjoying Undead Labs Pokémon-like game Moonrise. The studio has talked in some detail about how the game is being accepted by players, and while some love it, others leave after a few days, something that makes this PC and iOS creature battler unsustainable. After several months in early access, Moonrise is going to shut down December 31, 2015.

The studio may use some of the elements and mechanics in a future game, but for now the harsh reality is that Moonrise will be live only for a few months more. As a thank you to those who liked the game, Undead Labs is giving a lot of goodies for everyone to enjoy until the game is no more:

“We’re updating the game with new Solari, wildlands, dungeons, and clothing shops. We’re also increasing rewards in Arena Mode, making it easier to earn XP and hit upgrade and evolution milestones, increasing drop rates, decreasing leveling time, and generally making the game play faster and easier across the board. We’re also giving every player a free Sunset Pack containing 2,000 gems, 10,000 gold, two Solari Boosters, and a bunch of essences.”

We played Moonrise right in the beginning of early access and there was so much potential for such a game that this news comes as a bit of a shock. Maybe if it included an open world it could have so much more depth and ultimately be a successful game, but we're just guessing here. Anyway, if you want to see what you're missing you can watch our Moonrise first impressions below and why not, give it a go for yourself.
