Shadow Arena: Black Desert battle royale mode returns as standalone game

Shadow Arena battle royale fighter PC

It was quite a surprise to see Pearl Abyss shutting down Shadow Arena just a few months after starting testing. This battle royale mode for Black Desert Online was good fun as our impressions tell you, but apparently the rampant cheating contributed to an early demise.

Against all odds, Pearly Abyss wasn't planning on throwing away months, possibly years of work for good. The Black Desert developer decided to secretly start working on a new version that will be released as a standalone game for PC.

They're not wasting time either; you can sign-up for the upcoming closed beta on the new Shadow Arena website. The beta runs from November 21, 2019 until November 24, 2019 and will host 10,000 testers.

For now, there's only a short teaser for Shadow Arena, with the full trailer launching on November 14 during G-Star 2019. Pearl Abyss will show its other upcoming games in this event, hopefully including the family-friendly MMORPG Project V and the shooter Project K.
