Shots fired: Fortnite Battle Royale celebrates 100 days with 40 million players

Fortnite Battle Royale is celebrating 100 days of life by throwing a huge party where everyone… oh, wait, that's the wrong memo. They're just releasing a video with some stats to celebrate the feat.

Epic Games is clearly proud of its take on the Battle Royale genre, hot on the heels of the success of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds. Making it free also helped the massive popularity, with over 40 million registered players on the available platforms: PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. During the last weekend, Fortnite BR achieved its highest player peak, with more than two million concurrent players. That's a lot, in case you're wondering.

Fortnite Battle Royale is getting so big that lead systems designer Eric Williamson said the following to Eurogamer:

“Some of the folk around the office are saying hey, we could be the biggest Battle Royale game in the western world, which is crazy. Some people are saying we could be the biggest and best-played game [full stop] in the western world.”

At this rate, who am I to say otherwise? Take a look at the 100 days celebration video below, which has some interesting stats.
