The Lord of the Rings: Living Card Game enters Early Access late August

The Lord of the Rings Living Card Game release date

Fantasy Flight Interactive has announced the Early Access date for The Lord of the Rings: Living Card Game. You can buy your entry to the game starting on August 28, 2018.

While in Early Access, the developers will release the first campaign called Adventures in Mirkwood; the core set starter cards which includes 42 player cards and four heroes; 21 unlockable Valor cards and an array of cosmetics. More content will be released further down the line. There's a nice roadmap that details the studio's plans for quite a long stretch, and the only thing that it lacks is tentative dates for every stage. We do know that Early Access is expected to last between three to five months, and after that comes the official free-to-play release, which means The Lord of the Rings: Living Card Game will be free for everyone before the end of the year.

It's also worth mentioning that The Lord of the Rings: Living Card Game is getting a special edition tie-in with the tabletop release, The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game. This way, you can play the game in both the digital and the physical version. Here is what you get for this edition that is currently priced at $99.95:

• Early Access Code for The Lord of the Rings: Living Card Game
• The Lord of the Rings: Living Card Game Starter Set
• The Shire Founder’s Pack
• The Steward of Gondor Founder’s Pack
• The Istari Founder’s Pack
