Wargaming and Frag Lab partner for a F2P MMO Shooter built with Amazon tech

Wargaming frag lab shooter

Wargaming has just announced a partnership with Ukrainian studio Frag Lab for development of a next-gen free-to-play online first-person shooter. The game will run on the Amazon Lumberyard engine and uses nearly a dozen Amazon Web Services (AWS) products. Amazon, Amazon everywhere!

As for info on the actual game, here it is: zilch. Nothing was revealed about this F2P shooter, but a full announcement is promised for later this year.

Wargaming is on a roll, driven by the relentless success of World of Tanks. Recently it acquired Fractured Space developer Edge Case Games to create a new free-to-play MMO, opened a new studio in Guildford, UK to develop an unannounced free-to-play multiplatform MMO title, and partnered with Mad Head Games for the release of the Diablo-like game Pagan Online (which won't be free-to-play). The downside of this strategy is that Wargaming acquired Gas Powered Games in 2013 and closed it after five years and not a single game released.

Frag Lab is a studio founded in April 2017 by industry veterans having recently worked on Warface. Currently a 125-strong team, they come from companies such as Crytek, Ubisoft, GSC Game World (S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series) and 4A Games (Metro series)
