Honkai: Star Rail is the new game from miHoYo, the Chinese studio that gave us Genshin Impact, Honkai Impact 3rd, and Tears of Themis, among others. Touted as a spin-off that follows Honkai Impact 3rd's A Post Honkai Odyssey (APHO), it will feature new characters as well as familiar faces.

The gameplay is described as offering an open world experience, with the player assembling a team of three characters. However, this time the battles, won't be played in real-time; instead, enemy encounters will unfold in turn-based combat, with elements playing a role in each character's build. Players are called Trailblazers, while in Honkai Impact 3rd they were Captains.

Sign-ups for the first closed beta opened on October 8, 2021. The Honkai Star Rail release date is yet to be revealed, but we're inclined to believe the open beta launch will happen in Q2 2022.

The Honkai Star Rail platforms for the closed beta are PC and iOS, and Android is certainly going to get a release as well, so this should cover all the platforms for this game. It's doubtful that a Honkai Star Rail console release is in the plans, since this seems more like a game in the scope of Tears of Themis, a mobile-only otome game from the same studio, that is also very successful.
