We’ve heard about Blade & Soul for quite some time now, but news on a release in North America and Europe we’re inexistent. Now, NCsoft and developer Team Bloodlust finally decided to confirm that a release in the west (North America and Europe) is a reality. Blade & Soul launched in South Korea almost three months ago and it’s a massive hit, ranking as one of the top games in PC cafés.
The martial arts fantasy of Blade & Soul isn’t particularly fresh, but the execution seems polished enough to attract huge numbers of players, mixing the style of such films as House of Flying Daggers and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.
The release date in the west is still unknown, as much as the business model. Although Blade & Soul is based on a subscription model in South Korea, NCsoft may be enticed to go for free-to-play, especially seeing that Aion is now way more successful as F2P than it was ever before.
