You’re probably aware that Blizzard is working on a MOBA for quite a while now, which comes in handy since Valve is going to take a huge chunk from the League of Legends community with Dota 2. Incidentally, Dota is a game mode from Blizzard’s Warcraft 3 and there was a bit of a legal fuss over who had to rights to the name.
So, what was originally called Blizzard DOTA ended up as Blizzard All-Stars… until now. Blizzard just revealed a new cartoonish video where the studio announces the new name, Heroes of the Storm. This also puts an end to the rumors that said that this was the name of the upcoming World of Warcraft expansion.
There you have it, for now. We still know virtually nothing about the free-to-play Heroes of the Storm (besides the fact that the studio wants to put their own spin on the genre and challenge some conventions, and it should feature popular characters from Blizzard’s portfolio) but Blizzard plans to reveal the game at this year’s Blizzcon, which is held November 8-9.
Besides Warcraft, Diablo and Starcraft, who would love to see some The Lost Vikings characters in Heroes of the Storm?
