Orcs Must Die! goes free-to-play with Unchained

Third time is the charm, or so they say. With the third game in the series, Robot Entertainment is taking the Orcs Must Die! franchise into free-to-play territory. Orcs Must Die! Unchained is the name of the upcoming game and it is going to be the first F2P entry in the series, as well as being the first one to include team multiplayer. Two teams of five players will battle to attack and defend strongholds in a third-person tower defense/MOBA approach that includes card collecting game elements.

Dozens of unique heroes will be available including old acquaintances such as the War Mage and Sorceress and new additions Blackpaw, Midnight, Stinkeye, and Bloodspike. As for the rest, it's Orcs Must Die! territory: over-the-top weapons, fiendish minions and wacky traps.

There's no release date yet, but interested players may already buy a Founder's Pack to be a part of the upcoming alpha test. The Orcs Must Die! Unchained announcement trailer is below.
