SOE president John Smedley is not one to shy away from ambitious goals, as he revealed in his future plans for PlanetSide 2. But when confronted by the official PlayStation magazine about the possibility of this free-to-play MMO shooter launching on console, he dodged the bullet:
“What I'd say is — SOE has proven that we can bring our games to the PS3, and it's fair to say that we've got some other stuff out there cooking. I can't tell you what platforms it's for, but we're really excited about it.”
Looking at SOE’s revenue sources, it would be a mistake not to port this game – 70% of the studio’s revenue comes from PlayStation 3 games DC Universe Online and Free Realms. Keeping PlanetSide 2 as a PC exclusive would be like saying no to a pile of gold, but we’ll see what they’re cooking besides EverQuest Next.
