We’re not quite sure on what to make of Naruto Online, the browser-based MMORPG that is in the works at Bandai Namco Games, Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm developer CyberConnect2, More Fun Studio and Chinese studio Tencent. While the Naruto name is incredibly strong all over the world and there’s even a Naruto mini-series debuting in Spring 2015, Bandai Namco apparently isn’t taking Naruto Online outside of China.
The studio (or studios) just revealed a new Naruto Online cinematic trailer that looks amazing, but while this serves as a perfect appetizer, the main game is more of an old-school affair, with 2D graphics, a battle system that looks like it’s made for auto-combat (pretty much like other anime MMOs such as Bleach Online or Ultimate Naruto / Unlimited Ninja) and… a tremendous potential wasted? Apparently this isn’t going to be the Naruto MMORPG that everyone is hoping for, but it could still be quite fun. If you live in China, that is, since there seems to be no plan to bring Naruto Online to North America or Europe.
Anyway, enjoy the cinematic below and let us know if you think this could still be a fun Naruto game.
