Gigantic MOBA with Windows 10 and Xbox One cross-play

Motiga has just revealed that the upcoming and quite frankly stunning free-to-play MOBA Gigantic will launch on Windows 10 and Xbox One with cross-play. The studio revealed the news in a long and excited post which is worth reading to further understand the enthusiasm surrounding the decision.

Gigantic is a 5v5 third-person MOBA with a distinctive art style and enormous – or should we say gigantic – guardians that are the ultimate goal for each team.

Gigantic is the second free-to-play game in just a few days to be announced for Windows 10 and Xbox One and featuring cross-play – the other one was Lionhead’s Fable Legends. Microsoft is definitely trying to push Windows 10 as a gaming OS and seeing that is is going to be free for owners of Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 during the first year, it could be a good plan to convince gamers to adopt it. What do you think of the idea of upgrading to Windows 10 to play some of these games and others yet unannounced, is it tempting you?

This is far too good looking and stylized to find an audience on XBone. Really weird choice here. But they’re a new & independent studio so I’m sure whatever assistance/funding Microsoft gave them for this deal will pay off in the long run. Good for them, I guess.

I mean titles like Monday Night Combat and Hybrid failed on XBLA, and newer games’ are having disappointing showings like Warframe on XBone right now; Microsoft really only cares to promote their digital games at conferences like GDC and E3 and that’s it. Not to mention, the playerbase just wants to play FPS’, sports and Assassin Creed games. But nah; I’m sure this will find success where everyone else failed.

Oh well. This has fallen off my radar completely now. I am certainly not going to be checking this out then. No Windows 10 or Xbone for me. That’s a shame.

I think with this and Fable Legends (and World of Tanks and Warframe) Microsoft is trying to say that it’s not only the PS4 that has f2p games. However, I doubt they’ll keep the momentum and if they insist on Windows 10 for the upcoming games, they could break many of those games, by potentially reducing their playerbase. I mean, you’re proof that you lost interest on the game just now.

I’ll be checking this one one very closely. Looks extremely promising.

Absolutely agree, but the Windows 10 decision is a big risk.
